WITH the busy holiday season fast approaching, more pet owners are choosing to bring their four-legged companions with them rather than leave them behind.
As the cost of pet boarding continues to rise and kennel availability remains limited during peak travel periods, travelling together is becoming an increasingly popular option for families planning summer getaways.
Irish Ferries is making this easier than ever, offering a range of pet-friendly travel options designed to ensure a comfortable and stress-free journey for both pets and their owners.
On Irish Sea routes, passengers can choose the option that best suits their pet, including access to the Pet Den lounge – a dedicated indoor space where pets can relax alongside their owners. The Pet Den features comfortable seating, leash hooks, water stations and access to outdoor deck walkways, allowing pets and owners to stretch their legs and enjoy fresh air during the journey.
Passengers can also book pet-friendly cabins on selected vessels, including James Joyce, while onboard kennels are available on selected routes. Alternatively, pets may remain in the owner’s vehicle during the crossing.
On the Ireland–France route, pets are accommodated in onboard kennels on W.B. Yeats, with owners able to visit pets during the crossing for short walks and feeding. A limited number of pet-friendly cabins are also available on Isle of Inisheer.
With the added convenience of travelling in your own vehicle, bringing everything you need for the trip and avoiding airport queues, ferry travel offers a relaxed way for the whole family to travel – including the family pet.
