UK tour operators are anticipating a surge in travel to the Far East following the visit of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to Beijing last week.

On the trip an agreement was reached that China would allow visa-free travel from the UK, although it is not yet known when the relaxation in travel rules will take effect.
At the moment UK travellers need to visit a UK-based visa office for biometrics and pay at least £130 for a visa to visit China.
Until now, the UK has been left behind with nationals of more than 50 other countries getting access visa-free.
“This is the historic moment that we have been working for and waiting for since 2005. When you go to China, you have to get a visa – and that is so much work. But now it will be no barrier,” said Wendy Wu, founder of China specialist company Wendy Wu Tours.
The new arrangement could also lead to increase in direct UK-China flights over time.
