AS SUMMER ends and darker, cooler days set in, many are dreaming of 2027 sunshine – but knowing when and what to book for the best holiday deal can be a minefield.
David Hills, Chief Customer Officer at Jet2, reveals the seven ways to save in 2027 and get the best value breaks before they’re gone.
- Explore payment options – There’s a lot of debate about whether last-minute or early booking is best. A big advantage of booking ahead is that there are different payment options that allow you to lock in prices and stay in control of the budget. For example, we offer three main ways to pay, with one option being a pay monthly option, with just our deposit of £60 per person needed up front. You can also choose to pay in three with Pay Pal or pay in full should you wish. Booking early locks your price in too as we’ve pledged never to introduce surcharges – a win, win for clever budgeters.
- Search free child places before booking the hotel – If you’re travelling as a family, Jet2’s Free Child Places are a great way to save money, and we have millions available for next summer but it’s best to catch them quick. The online Free Child Place Finder tool filters your search to display only packages where a child can travel free, saving you time and effort. It’s worth remembering that if your child is under two years old, they fly free on all bookings.
- Bag the best rooms in the best hotels when you book ahead – Early booking means you get to secure the best rooms in the best hotels, as sea and pool-view rooms tend to book up quickly. When searching for your ideal room, consider your other requirements too, such as being close to particular areas like the pool or restaurant. Booking early puts you in complete control and means you book the best spots before they are gone – which will happen given their popularity.
- Make the most of your itinerary – it’s not just the flights and hotel you should consider. If you book early there are often deals to be found on the ground, for excursions and days out and you’re also safe in the knowledge that you can secure tables at the best restaurants and make the most of the local attractions during the peak holiday months.
- Be flexible with flights – A great trick for finding great prices is to search across multiple dates. If you run a basic search on the Jet2 website and then click “Edit Search”, you can select as many airports as you like, choose your preferred month and then click “View Calendar” to assess the best time and price. And if you’re willing to be super flexible, you can set your destination to “Anywhere” to see a complete monthly grid of the absolute cheapest departure dates and destinations side by side. The earlier you do this, the better choice you will have too.
- Break away from the holiday mould and be flexible – Don’t feel confined to a 7- or 14-night trip. We tend to naturally default to one- or two-week holidays, but there’s nothing stopping you from tailoring the length of your trip to suit what you need. Often, you can save by picking 6 or 9 nights because fewer people are doing the same. It’s a great way to get ahead on 2027’s trip and bag the best holiday for the best price.
- Extend the invite – Sharing accommodation is a simple way to cut costs, so consider bringing the family along or teaming up with friends. As well as having more people to keep an eye on the kids, sharing the cost of a villa could work out cheaper than booking individual hotel rooms.
