DISNEY has revealed a major wave of new attractions, experiences and entertainment coming to Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line.
The announcements were made at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, held from 14–16 August across the Anaheim Convention Center and Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The three-day event is Disney’s biggest official fan gathering, bringing together thousands of fans for major announcements, exclusive previews, celebrity appearances, performances and behind-the-scenes presentations spanning Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and its theme parks and cruise line. The name D23 refers to 1923, the year The Walt Disney Company was founded.
The new parks and cruise announcements were unveiled to a packed Honda Center on Saturday evening during “Horizons: A Carousel of Progress”, Disney’s headline Experiences showcase, which was also streamed live around the world on Disney+.
Among the biggest announcements:
- Villains Land: Two major attractions are coming to Magic Kingdom – a Maleficent roller coaster and a Magic Mirror dark ride featuring multiple Disney Villains
- The Lion King: Disneyland Paris’s major new water attraction will feature three drops, including a 52-foot plunge from Pride Rock, and Disney’s first Audio-Animatronics figure of Scar
- Space Mountain: Disneyland Paris will retire its Star Wars theme and reimagine the attraction as Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune, restoring its original Jules Verne concept and musical score
- Disney Believe: Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship will launch in late 2027 with a Moana-inspired Grand Hall, Tinker Bell on its bow and Woody and Buzz Lightyear on its stern
- Three more ships: An entirely new class of Disney Cruise Line vessels will begin launching in 2029
- Harrison Ford: The actor will become the model for the Indiana Jones Audio-Animatronics figure in the new Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent attraction
- Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston will voice the mother and father in an updated Carousel of Progress
- The legendary Yeti will finally return to full movement inside Expedition Everest
- Dreamfinder and Figment will return in a completely reimagined EPCOT attraction
- A brand-new daytime parade at Disneyland Paris: featuring characters from Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog, Tangled and Coco, will debut at Disneyland Paris in 2028
Further announcements include new Cars, Encanto and Monsters, Inc. attractions at Walt Disney World and the first major update to EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth in nearly 20 years.
