SPAIN LIKELY TO BAN SMOKING AND VAPING IN PUBLIC PLACES

SPAIN has drafted a bill restricting smoking in public places.

If approved, the ban will ban smoking, vaping and the use of a tobacco-related devices in all public outdoor spaces. This would include beaches, pool-side and restaurant/bar terraces, unless there is a special designated smoking zone.

A spokesperson from the Spanish Tourist Office in London welcomed the proposed bill: “The Spanish Parliament is likely to approve a bill placing new restrictions on smoking and vaping in public spaces, as well as funding to help people stop smoking and the prohibition of selling tobacco to under 18s.

“These new measures are designed to protect the health and wellbeing of Spanish citizens and will hopefully make holidaying in Spain healthier and happier for the majority of our visitors.”

Spain has already implemented smoking bans on many of its beaches.
