HONG Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is proud to announce that the highly anticipated debut episode of the 20th season of The Apprentice takes place in Hong Kong, a “hunting ground” that kicked off Lord Sugar’s business career.
Candidates tackled the show’s iconic ‘item-finding’ task across Hong Kong’s bustling commercial districts and vibrant neighbourhoods, marking the first time The Apprentice Boardroom left its London HQ. Lord Sugar hailed Hong Kong as “the greatest negotiating commercial centre in the world.”
From the skyscrapers of Central and the striking Hong Kong Palace Museum, to the beaches of Stanley and the majestic Big Buddha on Lantau Island, the episode captured Hong Kong’s unique East-meets-West identity. It’s a city where business, great outdoor, art, and culture converge — offering audiences an authentic glimpse into its global appeal.
The episode also spotlighted Hong Kong’s world-class business venues, reinforcing its status as a leading destination for international meetings, incentives, conventions, exhibitions, and corporate events. The iconic boardroom scene was filmed at Cloud 39, The Henderson, setting a new benchmark in executive settings.
“We are over the moon to see Hong Kong featured in the season opener of The Apprentice,” said Anette Wendel Menke, Director, Europe, Hong Kong Tourism Board.
“The show’s focus on ambition, creativity and resilience aligns perfectly with the buzzing hub of activity that is Hong Kong, and we’re excited for viewers from around the world to experience firsthand the city’s dynamism and unexpected variety, from the beaches, to neighbourhood street markets, world-class dining, vibrant nightlife, and scenic hiking trails across the city. Baroness Karen Brady CBE said of Hong Kong:
“What a fabulous place and what an incredible experience. It’s such a dynamic, fast-moving city, and it really pushed the candidates out of their comfort zone because the pace of business there is relentless. I think it gives them a taste of what it’s like to operate in a global market. The energy, the skyline and the culture add a completely different dimension to the show.”
The Apprentice is available on BBC iPlayer now.
